As the MIT Technology Review explains, researchers at Tufts bioengineered this fascinating monstrosity using a mix of bovine and human tooth cells that were grown inside bits of pig teeth.
The idea behind this terrifying lab-made concoction, which was detailed in a December paper published in the journal Stem Cells Transitional Medicine, is to create replacement teeth for human patients.

Ruyle researches the mechanisms that govern opioid-induced respiratory depression, or the slowing and stopping of breathing that makes opioid overdoses lethal. Ruyle’s recent work, published as a preprint, has shown us something truly remarkable: we may be able to reverse overdoses effectively without medication entering the brain, and based on study data, may actually avoid the pain of precipitated withdrawal altogether. The study used an experimental drug called naloxone methiodide.
It’s a simple modification of naloxone that cannot get past the blood brain barrier, essentially the brain’s security system. Instead, it can only circulate to opioid receptors outside of the brain, known as peripheral opioid receptors. His study showed that naloxone methiodide effectively reversed respiratory depression in rats that had been given fentanyl, and also the opposite — that rats given naloxone methiodide first, and given fentanyl afterwards, never developed respiratory depression.
And intriguingly, this happened without changing the rats’ vital signs and other physiologic data, leading Ruyle and his coauthors to suspect that while the rats were protected from respiratory depression, this was achieved without the notorious pain of withdrawal.

Tip for Rodney.. If the logs you cut are all the same length you can put more in your truck bed if stack them vertically in the bed instead of launching them in. It takes a bit longer to stack but you get more in the truck and don't have to worry about any of it falling off the pyramid pile going down the road. FYI

Thanks for the generous offer to help you Rodney but I learned 30 years ago cutting firewood out in the woods, cutting it to 16" lengths, loading the truck bed up then hauling it to the house , then unloading it , getting out the gasoline powered 30 ton log splitter, then unceremoniously lifting each piece out of the bed of the truck to the log splitter to make 6 pieces per log section, then throwing them off to a pile till the whole truck bed load is all split, Then the fun part comes , haul about a cord of wood inside the house along the basement wall stacking it to look pretty. The remaining pile outside gets stacked in rows then covered with a canvas tarp. When my brother in law was still married to my sister we used to go in the woods behind the house and cut two truck loads each a month, split and stacked at each others house. The log splitter had a ball hitch to tow it to my sisters house. I did that crap for 5 years thinking it would save money but the mess inside the house with the bark and ants to me wasn't worth the effort . So I switched to oil. Installed a 97% efficiency oil furnace ran all the duct work, plenum, 8" triple wall stainless steel chimney with roof cap, installed 2-275 gallon tanks inside the house piped in line, ran teh cipper line(s) to the tank and furnace. The pump on the furnace was a 2 stage pump, ran the electric from the service box to the furnace in conduit . Bent all the offsets and 90's myself. Two things I did not do was hook up the electric, had a licensed and bonded electrician do that and had a licensed furnace contractor hook up the oil lines to the pump, bled the system of air , tune the furnace to maximum efficiency. She comes every year to tune the furnace, filters, air adjust . Now when I want to put a cord of wood on the fire I just turn the thermostat to the right a tad. But thanks for the offer Rodney ... have fun and be safe.

And when CNN asked Leavitt and her colleagues for any evidence, another White House official instead pointed us to comments from the State Department — comments that, as we’ll discuss below, did not even repeat Leavitt’s claim of a planned $50 million Gaza condom expenditure, let alone prove the claim.
In three previous years under Biden, USAID spent no money on condoms in the entire Middle East: A detailed federal report published last year said USAID did not provide or fund any condoms in the Middle East in the 2021, 2022 and 2023 fiscal years.
The report, noted by The Guardian on Tuesday, said the only Middle East contraceptives provided or funded by USAID during that three-year period went to the country of Jordan in fiscal 2023. This was “a small order of injectables and progestin-only contraceptive pills” totaling about $46,000.

In Detroit, a “People’s Assembly” of a couple hundred people has formed to debate and act on strategies to counter ICE and the Trump administration. Their example of democratic, independent self-organization is a useful model that can be followed in other cities.
In Detroit, hundreds of people have come together to form a “People’s Assembly” to discuss how to defend against ICE. In attendance were immigrants, teachers, students, workers of all stripes, and different groups on the left. During the assembly, the whole collective debated several strategies of how to push back on ICE, and then made decisions to take action. Since then, these hundreds of people have been meeting and continuing to democratically carry out the strategies and tactics. This united front assembly is an important example of self-organization in motion.
One of the things that is heartening about this experience is that there is a group of people who are committed to strengthening the democratic and independent character of the assembly. They not only understand the power of uniting the different tendencies of the Left, the union movement, and community forces, but understand that if this power is to continue, it has to be controlled by the movement itself. We should be wary of and push back against the co-optive tactics of the Democrats and the bureaucracies of the institutional nonprofits and unions who are subordinated to the Democrats.
There is also a lot of pressure to respond to these attacks on immigrants by trying to pass new legislation. Legislative measures to formally reinforce immigrant rights are important. Local and state governments that claim to support immigrants should put their money where their mouth is by passing protections and standing up against ICE. But we can’t stake our hopes in Democratic lawmakers who have so far refused to pass such legislation. Importantly, orienting toward calling representatives shift
